Bloodwork Prior to surgery
We require bloodwork prior to surgery on pets that are seven years of age and older. This allows us to determine and rule out certain diseases or abnormalities that would contraindicate an anesthetic procedure.
Expectations of surgery in your pet
We have licensed veterinary technicians monitoring your pet from the initial preparation of surgery, during the procedure and while they are in recovery. We understand how stressful it can be for your pet to undergo a surgical procedure and we take the wellbeing of your pet very seriously.
Important Discharge Instructions after Surgery
Your pet is going to be very tired after his/her procedure. It is important to provide a calm, safe place for them to rest once they get home.
Do not allow your pet to lick or chew at his/her incision. This will cause trauma to the site and can make it more likely for a life-threatening infection to occur. Some pets will require an E-collar or a surgery recovery suit.
It is very important to restrict your pet’s activity for 2-3 weeks following surgery.
Make sure your pet is taking prescribed medications at the appropriate time recommended by the veterinarian.
